We have implemented Actitudes, Bouygues Construction’s sustainable development policy: changing our attitudes through the way we act.
Environment
At Ecovert FM, we take responsibility for the environmental impacts of our own business and work alongside our clients to help them to do the same. Our Environmental Management System is registered to the ISO14001:2004 standard. Environmental improvement is being built into every aspect of the business, particularly within Operations and Procurement. We want our clients to be confident that we are committed and, importantly, continually looking for ways to improve.
Waste / Recycling
Ecovert FM is a licensed Waste Broker, committed to managing waste according to the following hierarchy – Reduce, Reuse then Recycle.
We minimise the waste our business generates through good practice and innovation such as encouraging staff not to print e-mails unless strictly necessary and to recycle a maximum of waste, as well as electronic archiving and data management. We invest in software, such as Maximo to manage work electronically and we ensure that our clients benefit through innovation in waste treatment and disposal.
By working with subcontractors Ecovert FM has been able to demonstrate continued success in recycling rates. At the Cabinet Office recycling rates are consistently over 50% with paper, cardboard, plastics, cans and glass all separated for recycling.
Purchasing
Considered and conscientious purchasing can ensure products do not travel excessively and are not produced (or packaged) in a way that is detrimental to the environment.
We pay particular attention to the procurement of timber and only use supplies from Forest Stewardship Council approved sources.
In an effort to "close the loop" of recycling, we try to purchase previously recycled products wherever possible, including stationery, hand towels and toilet paper.
Utilities
As Facilities Managers, we regularly monitor utilities usage and continually seek out improvement opportunities for clients.
Our employees, working closely with client staff, follow environmental good practice in order to protect both the environment and our clients' interests. For example, night cleaning and security teams ensure that unnecessary lights and appliances are switched off whilst carrying out their regular after-hours duties.
Our Building Management Systems are used as essential tools in analysing utility and energy usage, and identifying savings beneficial both to the environment and our clients.
We have implemented Actitudes, Bouygues Construction’s sustainable development policy, which aims to:
1. Foster a trusting relationship with our clients, based on consideration, transparency and innovation
2. Incorporate risk into the day-to-day management of the company
3. Lead our business sectors in terms of occupational health and safety
4. Develop our employees' skills and promote equal opportunity
5. Establish balanced, long-term relationships with our partners, suppliers and subcontractors
6. Ensure that our businesses respect the environment
7. Participate in the economic and social life of the regions where we operate
